I have joined Weight Watchers. So every Friday, I will report how much I have lost. Hoping this really works since I am committed. So I needed to go to the store for some items that I didn't have in my stockpile. I purchased a bag of green peppers that were reduced for quick sale, a bag of small apples, 2 frozen bags of unsweetened frozen strawberries, a canola oil spray and a bottle of FF Italian Dressing. Total cost was $ 16.68. After this shop, I now have $108.19 left in my January grocery budget. Since there are only 6 days left in the month, I think I have done pretty well.
Since I have pretty much everything I need for WW's in my stockpile, I believe I do not have to up my budget. I will leave it at $200. a month but I will be rolling any money left from January into February and the same each month. I still have things that DH will want to buy also.
Last night, DH and I went out to our favorite restaurant, Shamus, for a wonderful dinner. Since I knew I would be starting today on WW's, I ate my fat laden favorites one last time. I had blackened scallops for an appetizer and DH had French onion soup. We both had petite twin filet mignons in a port wine reduction sauce for our dinner entree with broccoli and potatoes. We had drinks and brought home dessert. I had tiramisu and DH had carrot cake. The bill came to $ 103. plus tip. We were given a $ 100. Gift Certificate for Christmas so we only had to pay $ $22. including the 20% tip. We don't tip on tax. We will not be eating out while I am on WW. I could but I don't want to use up a large amount of points that that would take. So all meals will be eaten at home.
Did you notice the grocery picture above? My new camera arrived and I finally got the software loaded to keep the pics on my computer. I am not quite used to it yet but pretty soon it will be old hat to me.
This afternoon will be spent going through my gift closet in the exercise room and weeding out anything I don't need. Any gifts that I can use during the year will be wrapped and the cards put with them. I will be keeping track of what I already have and what I need to purchase in my gift log. I am doing so well with putting gift money in an envelope from free money that I earn online. I have plenty of wrapping paper so won't have to buy any this year. What helps with this is saving the Sunday comics to wrap the grandchildrens' gifts in. After the closet is done, I will clean the exercise room so it is nice and clean for me to get on my exercise routine again.
Dinner for both DH and I will be turkey stir fry served on 1/2 cup of brown rice. Dessert will be strawberries. Entertainment will be watching CSI NY and Blue Bloods.
Please feel free to leave a comment and share with all of us what you have done yesterday or today to save some money.

Good luck with the WW. Did you join online or are you going to meetings? Your fruit looks good -- so fresh on this grey day.
Tonight DH is going to a party for a work friend so I have a big night planned -- put the kids to bed, mend some laundry, and dehydrate celery and peppers. Woo hoo!
Hi Jillian,
Thanks. I joined online.
Enjoy your peaceful evening while you are doing your chores.
Good luck with weight watchers. Sure hope it works out for you.
Way to go with your food budget for the month. That is great.
I met my goals for the month. I hope that I can do as well next month. Next month has 2 birthdays in it for us. My grandsons are 2 years and 2 days apart in age..so there will be 1 big birthday bash.
Hi there! I am a new reader and follower of your blog. I am so enjoying all of your posts and looking forward to more. Your blog inspires me. My husband and I live on a fixed income and I am ALWAYS looking for ways to save. Best of luck on the WW. I know a few people who have been on it with wonderful results!
Robyn :)
Good luck Precious! I joined WW last January and have made lifetime in November. I don't think you will regret it. We are eating spaghetti made with sauce from a previously frozen large batch with sausage given to us as a gift from a neighbor. All the kids will be home for a change, it will be a nice meal.
Congrats, ...you can do it... and yes, you'v done very well on the food budget.
Your last supper sounds yummy but so does the one for tonight.
We are really trying not to fall into the Friday trap of eating out. I come home and prepare something so as not to be tempted to eat out Friday night.
I personally do not enjoy eating out but I do subcomb to once a week , usually on Saturday. So , no money spent on Friday which is nice.
Hi Roxie,
Thanks. You did a very good job meeting your goals this month. I will be pulling for you next. Enjoy your grandson's party!
Hi Robyn,
Welcome to my blog. I am so glad that I can help in some small way.
Thanks for the encouragement for WW.
Hi Aggie,
Thanks for the encouragement. I hope that I can do as well as you have.
Enjoy your yummy dinner with your family.
Hi Urmelche,
Thanks. Dinner was yummy.
Hi Fiesta,
I think we all love eating out but it can be so costly. Lovevthat you are eating in on Fridays.
Good Luck with WW! I know quite a few people who have done well with it! I picked up several gifts after Christmas and they are just sitting in a pile. I really need to get them organized and start an accurate list so I don't "rebuy" for anyone!
Peter took his dad to see if a window from Craiglist will work for us. Our dual pane windows are VERY old (although they are dual pane) and they are one of the things on our update list for the house. This window is one of the fancy one with blinds in between the glass, I am really hoping it's the right size!
Precious,
I know how much you like a good deal. I don't know what type of health insurance you have but....Independent Health offers a Wellness Discount for Weight Watchers. If you have this insurance call the company and check it out!
Good luck, I hope that you reach your goal. And remember, whether the pounds drop quickly or slowly, each time you replace something "bad" with "good" you win!
Hi Karen,
Thanks! Oh, I hope the window works for you too. I had a PELLA double door in my house when I lived in NY before. I loved the blinds.
Hi Nini,
Thanks so much for sharing. Unfortunately, that is not my compnay but maybe someone else can use that tip. Thanks for good wishes also.
best wishes to you!
I sewed up 3 appliance covers this morning and only used supplies already in my sewing room. I am so happy with them. And I like them even better knowing they cost me nothing.
Hi Rhonda,
What a fantastic savings.
